The History of TripleR Radio

TripleR Radio was founded in early 2022 by a group of passionate local broadcasters and music lovers in Preston who wanted to bring truly independent, community-focused radio back to Lancashire.

The name "TripleR" stands for **Ribble, Radio, and Roots** – celebrating the Ribble Valley where our studios are based, our dedication to radio, and our commitment to local music and culture.

We launched online in mid-2022 with a small team of volunteer presenters and a simple streaming setup. Since then, we've grown to broadcast 24/7, featuring local talent, live shows, traffic updates, and music from Lancashire artists and beyond.

Today, TripleR is proud to be Lancashire's independent voice – no big corporate playlists, no national adverts – just real, local radio for the people of Preston, Blackburn, Burnley, Chorley, Ribble Valley, and the wider Northwest.
